Sunday morning

On Sunday morning, we had planned on attending the LDS church in Moscow.  We looked up the time and the location and found out that it was really close to our hotel.  Our taxi driver seemed very willing to take us to the address, but he was not too sure about the location (even though we printed a map).  When we said that we were going to church, he thought -- tall cathedral, spires, stained glass windows, church bells, etc.  After two tries around the block, Kent and I decided that this was it.  He scratched his head and was reluctant to leave two Americans who did not know a word of Russian with no "church" to be had.

This is the place!

Two floors for a chapel, classrooms and offices.  Very nice.  One of the missionaries gave us head sets and translated for us in English.

This is the driveway.  And if you drive a car, you will not be able to leave early!  This is how they have to park, due to limited parking on the street.

After church, we decided to walk out to the main street and hail a taxi, crossing over Vodootvodnyy Canal.

We failed, but Red Square and the Kremlin came into view.  What a great view of the cathedrals, museum and palaces.

At least we are on the outside of the wall now.

Make a right hand turn and a view of St. Basil's Cathedral.  We took the walkway under the overpass and were at Red Square where we got a taxi at Tverskaya Road which took us back to our hotel.

I was grateful that I took my old, long London Fog rain coat with the wool lining, my winter hat, my long scarf to wrap around my head and neck, mittens, thick black tights and my new Clark's muckers.  It was a very cold day.
